News reports this week show that one of Governor Rauner’s largest donors is also funding a Super PAC backing controversial Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.

Moore is accused of sexually molesting and assaulting girls between the ages 14 and 16 while in his 30’s. He is now 70.

Richard Uihlein has been a prodigious funder for Illinois Republicans, giving more than $16.6 million to candidates since 1998.

He is also a major financial supporter of Governor Bruce Rauner, giving Rauner more than $2.6 million to the Governor.

Reports show that Uihlein’s most recent contribution to Moore came more than a week after the first allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore surfaced. Overall, Uihlein has given $100,000 to the Proven Conservatives PAC that is working to elect Moore.

Moore denied the allegations and said he has not dated “underage” girls.
