JOURNAL-REGISTER: Springfield Theatre Centre kicks off 70th season with classic ‘Anything Goes’

The State Journal-Register is reporting, “The Springfield Theatre Center is kicking off its landmark 70th season with the classic “Anything Goes.”

Originally produced in 1934, the musical takes place aboard a trans-Atlantic ocean liner called the SS American. Billy Crocker, a young Wall Street broker, and Reno Sweeney, an evangelist, are the main characters, who run into some trouble and crazy antics ensue, all set to the backdrop of Cole Porter music.

When the STC board was lining up their 70th season, they wanted to go back to some of the classics they’ve done in the past. Director Rich McCoy said that every year the audience requests “Anything Goes” to return…”
