JOURNAL STAR: Riverfront Village demolition won’t stop Riverfront Market this weekend

The Peoria Journal Star is reporting, “The Riverfront Village platform is still being carted away, but that won’t stop the first Riverfront Market of the season from taking place from 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday.

The farmers market on the banks of the Illinois River is just one of the events to have a place in the Riverfront Master Plan, a document still to be forged. The first organizational meeting drew 50 people to the Gateway Building Tuesday evening.

Al Holzer, who plans to set up his woodcraft booth at the market for a fourth season this weekend, was gratified to learn from Keven Graham, a senior landscape architect for Terra Engineering Ltd., that rubble from the platform would not hinder the market throughout the summer.
