POST TRIBUNE: Interstate 80/94 shut down in Gary with power lines on roadway, state police say

The Post-Tribune is reporting, “All lanes in both directions of Interstate 80/94 remained shut down late Wednesday morning at Chase Street in Gary because power lines were down on the roadway, according to Indiana State Police.

A power pole was “compromised” causing the lines to come down, according to a news release from state police.

NIPSCO, the local power company, was called to the scene and turned off the power. The utility said the earliest the road would be open is about noon. NIPSCO needs to install a new pole and restring wire across the interstate, state police said…”
