The Southern is reporting, “Opinions may differ on scholarship pageants, but the Miss Illinois competition is an undeniable economic boon to the region, and to the City of Marion in particular, according to Williamson County officials.

Since the competition relocated to the Marion Cultural and Civic Center seven years ago, the event has generated thousands of visitors and millions of dollars for local businesses.
